I'm a makeup junkie. I've never been to beauty school, don't work at Sephora or have any affiliation to the beauty industry. But I have an eye for makeup, what works and what doesn't. I've put together a list of some of four common beauty mistakes I see.
Wearing The Wrong Shade of Foundation.
I see this a lot of this during the fall/winter months. Usually we're a bit tanner in the summer, so instead of keeping that same foundation for 12-months, buy a different foundation for the winter and summer. I highly recommend to get yourself matched by a pro - the ladies at Sephora now have some pretty awesome gadgets to find the best match of foundation for your skin.
I can say this until I'm blue in the face! But really, one of the most important things about makeup is to BLEND BLEND BLEND. My favorite way to blend is with a beauty blender. And while you're blending, check your face in a few different lights. I always like to check my makeup with natural light by a window and the light in the bathroom to make sure everything is blended out perfectly. You don't want to be walking out the house with a harsh line you missed from your contour.
Not Highlighting and Contouring
I feel like so many people are scared about highlighting and contouring from the Kardashians, but I promise you it's not scary!! When you're contouring your accentuating your natural features by receding certain areas of the face and emphasizing other areas when highlighting. You should contour the hollows of the cheeks, slim the nose, and jaw. And you should highlight your cheekbones, chin, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, and middle of the forehead. I don't care what anyone says, this has been around forever and is here to stay!
Having A Bold Lip Paired With A Bold Eye
This could be more of a preference thing, but when you see someone with a bright red lip and a dark smokey eye it's a little overwhelming. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for the bold lip and bold eye but not paired together.
