I love getting Christmas cards! Growing up, my mom always displayed the Christmas cards with ribbon around the house. I love seeing photos of friends or family members we haven't seen in while - it always strikes up a conversation. Last year, Mike and I sent our first Christmas card and with Thanksgiving here it's time again to start brainstorming this years card. We ordered our wedding invites from Minted and loved how they turned out - the quality of the cards were amazing and they have so many options to choose from. I thought I'd share some of my favorites that are on sale until 11/24.

Tips For Taking Great Photos

  • Pick a color scheme: Some people like the matchy-matchy look (i.e. white top and jeans), but another way would be to pick a color scheme of 2-4 different colors and stick within those. From there, you can play with textures and patterns, you could throw on some suede, sequins, tweed, wool, etc.
  • Location: Picking our your outfit first is important before you pick a location so that you can pick a location that compliments your outfit.
  • Makeup: I know this sounds silly, but you're makeup makes a big difference in pictures. I recommend two things: 1. Use an HD foundation with no SPF. My favorite is Makeup Forever's HD Foundation. You don't want anything with SPF on your face because it will reflect off the flash. 2. Wear lipstick, I like a brighter lip but anything will do.

My favorite stores to shop for holiday photos are: Nordstrom, ShopBop, Jcrew, and Gap. Mike and I will be taking our Christmas card pictures soon, wish us luck! :)
